How to deal with perimenopausal symptoms: period cramps, acne, insomnia...

Hello perimenopausal women and those that already went through it! How is it going? How are you doing? I wanted to share my journey so far with you!

After having the most painful period of my life in July (I almost went to the ER) I knew I had to do something! So I started measuring my hormone levels with the Mira hormone monitor (get 20% off with Sissi) and found out that my E3G levels (the primary urinary metabolite of estradiol) are super low but also my PdG (a metabolite of progesterone). This totally made sense to me as I am experiencing many symptoms of too low estrogen and progesterone levels (hair thinning, brittle nails, insomnia, acne, period cramps).

I discovered my options were either HRT (hormone replacement therapy) or going back on birth control. I decided to go back on birth control since I am still getting my period. I think this is kinda funny since I am already 49! I quit birth control at 46 (I wrote about it here) and 3 years later, here I am back on it LOL. I really feel like a teenager in puberty, hormones out of whack, getting acne and now birth control. Hahahaha. Whatever helps!

My last cycle took 62 days! That was the longest EVER!

Anyway, I also decided to include now Estriol cream in my skin care routine to combat the estrogen loss in my skin! We will see how that goes. I got it from Alloy. You can also get your birth control (as low as $39.99/month including consultation) or HRT from Alloy! Easy peasy- no physical doctor visit needed.

Don’t just quietly suffer if you have symptoms! We have so much information and resources available! Don’t forget to follow Dr. Mary Claire on Instagram for the best menopause education!
