Is L'Oreal Age Perfect Makeup worth the hype? | BEAUTY OVER 40

Hello ladies,
I have tried a couple of makeup items of L'Oréals new Age Perfect Line and wanted to share with you my thoughts! The Age Perfect makeup line for mature skin includes serum concealers, smoothing foundations, creamy blush, and hydrating lipsticks so you can look as great as you feel. I'm 44 years old and therefor consider myself belonging to the mature skin group. lol.

You can watch my review also on YouTube (my first video after a 2 year break!):

Here is what I have tried:

1. L'Oréal Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation $12-$15.99  (Ulta // Amazon)

Key Benefits:
  • Formulated with SPF 50, Vitamin B3 and Hydrating Serum for all day hydration
  • Evens tone and provides a natural, radiant finish
  • Lightweight formula does not settle into lines
  • Suitable for sensitive skin, tested under dermatological control and non-comedogenic

My experience:
I really love this foundation and it reminds me a lot on the IT Cosmetics CC cream! It offers great coverage, feels very hydrating and it includes SPF 50- basically a much cheaper dupe! It also has the tacky feel the IT Cosmetics CC cream has- I just put a hint translucent powder on top to avoid that. Just like the IT Cosmetics CC cream I don´t find it is very long wearing foundation- depending on how active I was, it wears off after 3-4 hours and does not look as perfect anymore.

I am not surprised this is a dupe! L'Oréal bought IT Cosmetics in 2016 for 1.2 billion dollar- so they have the original formula and knew exactly how to create a cheaper version.

Keep in mind that the IT Cosmetics CC cream contains a mineral sunscreen (which I prefer) and the L'Oréal one contains a mix of mineral and chemical sunscreen. But for that big price difference I think this is a minor issue! If your skin isn't sensitive with chemical sunscreens, I say go for this cheaper alternative!

2. L'Oréal Age Perfect Radiant Concealer $9.99-$12.99 (Ulta // Amazon)

Key Benefits:
  • Formulated with Hydrating Serum and Glycerin
  • Minimizes the appearance of imperfections and dark circles, brightens skin creating a radiant complexion
  • Does not settle into lines
  • Suitable for all skin types, tested under dermatological and ophthalmological control

My experience:
Oh geez! I really wanted to like this and was hoping it would be similar to the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye concealer- but it is NOT. I don't like this concealer at all! It offers NO COVERAGE and creases just awful. I can only imagine that this concealer works for you, if you have nothing to cover up but only are looking for brightening up your eye area.

This concealer does feel moisturizing but also never seems to dry on my skin- so it never "sets".

3. L'Oréal Age Perfect Lash Magnifying Mascara $9.99-$10.99 (Ulta // Amazon)

Key Benefits:
  • Formulated with Conditioning Serum and Jojoba Oil
  • Cares for your lashes and is suitable for sensitive eyes
  • Ultra gentle brush leaves lashes soft, supple and instantly volumized
  • Tested under ophthalmological control, suitable for sensitive eyes, suitable for contact lens wearers

My experience:
I say this is a nice mascara. It won't be my new favorite mascara (which is still the Too Faced Better than Sex) but if you are looking for a natural looking classic mascara, then this one works well. I love that it contains nourishing ingredients!

4. L'Oréal Age Perfect Radiant Satin Blush $9.99-$12.99 (Ulta // Amazon)

Key Benefits:
  • Formulated with Camellia Oil
  • For instant luminous color that does not cake or dry
  • Enhances look of cheeks and gives skin a natural, healthy glow
  • Tested under dermatological control

My experience:
I really like it- the satin finish provides me with the right look to give me a fresh appearance. The blush is not overly pigmented which makes it easy to apply as you won't look immediately like a clown. You can layer it nicely. I feel like I need to apply at least 2 layers. Keep in mind that when I compared the colors Peony and Rosewood in store they looked nearly identical to me. A nice blush!

5. L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Satin Lipstick with Precious Oils, 216 Glowing Nude $7.97 (not available at Ulta // Amazon)

Key Benefits:
  • infused with precious oils and rich pigments.
  • Formulated for vibrant color, this lipstick can stand al1.
  • The creamy formula of this satin lipstick stays put so you do not have to worry about feathering.
My experience:
I had a hard time picking a color as I don't really love the color selection. I find ironically that the color selection seems very old-fashioned and was hoping for more "modern colors". Just because we are old doesn't mean we want to wear old fashioned lipstick lol.

However, the lipstick feels very moisturizing and comfortable on my lips. Turns out the color I picked is really pretty (Glowing Nude)- the perfect nude with a hint brown tones. Despite the matte look of the lipstick tube- it ends up looking really shiny on my lips! I detected no scent whatsoever (which I prefer). I really like it!

Here is me with all the above makeup applied!
