Urban Decay Lash Freak Mascara Review with before and after!

Hi ladies,
today I have a review of the brand new Urban Decay Lash Freak Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara for you. What it is: An intensely volumizing mascara with an asymmetrical brush that lengthens and lifts lashes for a dramatic, wide-eyed look.

What Else You Need to Know -according to Urban Decay:

This ultra-pigmented mascara creates 23.6 times more volume and 40 percent more visible length. The brush was designed to give extreme volume and definition to lashes. The tip defines and separates, while the curved side adds lift. The mascara’s long-wear formula lasts up to 20 hours and is both smudge- and sweat-proof.

And I have to say: the brush really looks different from any other mascara that I have ever seen! It basically has 3 different sides: the asymmetrical brush, a little brush-tip and a curved side without any bristles.

How to apply:
  1. Use the asymmetrical bristle side to coat every lash with mascara for instant volume and definition.
  2. Use the budding tip of the brush for extra definition by separating and coating individual lashes and, also for coating bottom lashes.
  3. Flip the brush and press the curved side against the lash root for added lift and curl.

My experience:

This mascara puts FAST a ton of product onto your lashes! So, you will have indeed a dramatic result- however, I find the result at the same time clumpy and the mascara definitely doesn't do a good job in separating my lashes. The look is not very defined. Even the little tip of the wand does not really help separating my lashes, but the little tip can definitely reach the tiny lashes in the corner of my eyes very well.

Here's a before and after pic of me!

Below you can see my left eye with the Urban Decay Lash Freak Mascara and no mascara on the right eye.

The curved side of the mascara wand really has something to it- it is almost like tight-lining my lash line. You know the part of your lashes right at the roots, that is pretty difficult to reach? The curved side (the side without the bristles) is really able to reach all those fine roots and put a ton of product on that area.

Overall I find that the result looks indeed freakin' dramatic- and if you are not looking in a magnifying mirror and aren´t obsessing over the clumpiness, it looks really impressive!

However, this might not be a mascara for your daily use, as is creates rather spidery and clumpy lashes. You won't like this mascara, if you prefer a natural look and if you really are a neat-freak, than this mascara just won't be your fave as it doesn't do a good job in separating lashes.

Overall I'd say this won't be my favorite mascara (this one is) but it might be a great "special occasion" mascara if I want a BIG impact (cause I just can't with fake lashes!).

The Urban Decay Lash Freak retails for $25 and is available on August 2nd at Sephora or Ulta
