LOREAL BUYS IT COSMETICS FOR 1.2 BILLION!
I don´t like this news at all! Loreal seems to buy off any makeup or cosmetic brand that gains great success and now Loreal buys IT Cosmetics IN CASH for a rocking 1.2 Billion!!! Although Urban Decay and The Body Shop both stayed cruelty free after being acquired by Loreal- at the end the money that we spend on those brands goes to the makeup giant Loreal and Loreal is one of the biggest animal testers in the world!
Unlike many people simply assume: Yes: Loreal is an active animal tester. I was quite surprised that I read yesterday on one of the biggest beauty blogs I know that "Loreal is cruelty free since one year!" No. It´s not. I know that Loreal falsely claims such thing with confusing statements- but they are simply lying. They sell their products in China and China requires animal testing of imported cosmetic by law. Simple as that: If you sell in China, you are not cruelty free (read more about why companies test on animals here).
Although I am usually on the stance that I still support brands that are cruelty free but owned by a brand that is not, I am still heart broken and would prefer this would not be happening...
The cosmetic giant Loreal owns already brands (from drugstore to high end) such as:
- Biotherm
- Carol’s Daughter
- Clarisonic
- Dermablend
- Diesel
- Essie
- Garnier
- Giorgio Armani
- Helena Rubinstein
- Kérastase
- Kiehl's
- La Roche Posay
- Lancôme
- Matrix
- Maybelline
- NYX Cosmetics
- Pureology
- Ralph Lauren
- Redken
- Shu Uemura
- The Body Shop
- Urban Decay
- Vichy
- YSL
Congrats to Jamie for building up such a strong beautiful makeup brand...but I wish you would not sell! ;-)
