Biltmore Estate - a family trip to Asheville!

Gardens at the Biltmore Estate

We did a little trip to Asheville and stopped on our way also in St. Augustine to see the Castillo De San Marcos. The next day we got to see the Biltmore Estate in Asheville! It is crazy! The largest private owned home in America (by the family Vanderbilt)!

The Biltmore Estates has 250 rooms! I am so bummed that we somehow later found out that we did not see the bowling alley, gymnasium and indoor swimming pool. It was so big that we must have gotten confused or so!

But my favorite part were the gardens. We don´t really get a spring feeling with tulips, lent lilies and snowdrops here in Florida- so I was overjoyed seeing all the beautiful flowers!

The Biltmore Estate has also it´s own winery (and a whole village with restaurants) and I got to taste some of their gorgeous wines as well (loved the Biltmore Reserve NC Chardonnay 2013!)

If you have never been to the Biltmore Estate, you have to put it on your bucket list!

The next day we went up to Mount Mitchell State park. Only problem was: it was so freaking cold! 27 degrees with an icy wind! Brrr! Honestly, we did not expect it being so cold and decided to not walk up that day but instead visit the North Carolina Arboretum which rather disappointed me as I did not see flowers like in the Biltmore Estate.

On our third day the weather was back to 47 degrees and so we decided to try again for the Mount Mitchell State Park! It was still cold but not unbearable and the icy weather from the day before left us some stunning looking icicles (my son has never seen them and was super excited!).

Overall it was an awesome little Getaway but we are happy to be back in warm and sunny Florida!

Hope you all have a great day!
