RODIAL SKIN CARE & MAKEUP REVIEW

Today I have a wonderful review of a couple of Rodial items: from skin care to makeup. Rodial is a highly coveted brand in the U.K and yes: it is cruelty free! Maria Hatzistefanis (aka Mrsrodial on Instagram) founded Rodial in 1999 after seeing a gap in the market for high performance skincare offering targeted, results-driven treatments. The brand has an extensive celebrity following and global reach with a presence in more than 3,000 doors and 35 countries worldwide and this year it will be finally available in the US market (I spotted the skin care online at Ulta!). Maria is BTW also the founder of Nip & Fab! What a power woman!

Let´s start with the skin care! I received the Rodial Stemcell super-food facial oil and the Rodial Glamoxy Snake Mask! You gotta love already the promising names of the products!

Rodial Stemcell super-food facial oil $80

What is it?

A concentrated super-food and anti-oxidant rich face oil that targets dehydration and fine lines to restore a healthy glow. With a powerful cocktail of super-food actives, omega 3, 6 and 9 and vitamins A, B5, C and E, this skin-rejuvenating face oil formula is quickly absorbed into the skin for deep nourishment whilst advanced PhytoCellTec Alp Rose stem cell technology protects skin from daily aggressions and nourishes skin to reduce signs of aging caused by sun exposure. Wrinkle appearance is reduced and skin's vitality is increased for a luminous glow. A non greasy formula that sinks seamlessly into the skin.
Key Benefits:
  • PhytoCellTec Alp Rose: Protects against environmental stress.
  • Olive: A gentle moisturiser for dry skin.
  • Vitamin B5: Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Rosehip Seed Oil: Promotes elasticity and firmness.

My verdict:

Don´t think greasy, if you hear the word facial-oil, because the Rodial Stemcell super-food facial oil has a fabulous and unique consistency- just dab a drop onto the areas that need extra hydration, and your skin will simply drink up all the great ingredients- no oily or greasy feeling included! It sinks into the skin like magic! And it smells divine! Very exotic and luxurious! I love to use this super food around my delicate eye area and feel like it is making a difference in the appearance of my wrinkles! Love it!

Rodial Glamoxy Snake Mask $83

What is it?

An innovative jet black peel off face mask that visibly brightens and corrects skin tone and decongests for radiant looking skin. Syn®-Ake, a dipeptide inspired by the effect of the temple viper venom, reduces the look of lines and wrinkles whilst french clay works to cleanse pores and remove excess oil and impuriities. Liquorice extract acts as a skin lightening agent. Suitable for those with oily skin or looking to treat hyperpigmentation.
Key Benefits:
  • Syn®-Ake Dipeptide (snake-venum inspired peptide): Reduces mimic wrinkles.
  • Kaolin French Clay: Draws out impurities and excess sebum, while reducing enlarged pores.
  • Pomegrante Ellagic Tannin: Firm and tone the skin.
  • Liquorice Extract: Reduces the apppearance of age and sun spots.

My verdict:
I was a little scared that the Rodial Glamoxy Snake mask contains something from a snake- but after checking the ingredients and finding no "real snakes" in there and trying the mask out- I knew it is called like that because of the way, how you peel it off. The peeled off mask actually looks like snake skin!

The licorice smell was right away apparent to me and I loved that as I find it very unique! And just look at how black this mask is! It has a funny feel to it- a bit glue-like. It is very easy to apply evenly on the face with your fingers. After about 20 minutes it dried and it was time to peel it off. I love how mess-free this is! No nasty mud to wash off and get that sink dirty, but instead you just peel if off- starting at the outer corners. It was not hard to do and - just like a snake- I revealed deep cleansed, fresh new skin afterwards. Gotta love it!

Now off to the makeup!

Rodial Smokey eye sculpt eyeshadow palette $40

The Rodial eyeshadow palette contains 5 matte neutral colors and one shimmery metallic copper color. It offers a variety from warm earthy to cool smokey colors. They are a bit powdery, so you might want to tap off your brush before applying, but they are super gorgeous pigmented. The second color (a matte caramel color) is the must have color for your crease- my absolute favorite eyeshadow color that I use almost every day!

I swatched the colors below with my fingers (top row) and with a brush (second row) and you can see how pigmented the colors are.

Neutral colors are my favorite on my eyes and I find this palette is super versatile- despite the neutral, earthy tones. You can create a warm glowy look, but also a more cooler toned smokey hot look.

I created 2 Makeup looks with this eye palette.

Rodial Instaglam Compact Deluxe Banana powder $57

What is it?
The versatile yellow shade suits a range of skin tones to compliment the full contour look. This subtle formula corrects surface redness and pink undertones whilst neutralizing blue under eye circles. This mattifying powder can both set your makeup and contour your face by the ‘baking’ make-up trend. It can be applied after foundation to prevent it from setting into fine lines, it also helps to reduce the appearance of an oily complexion.
The main function of banana powder is to act like a highlighter, to enhance your facial contours with a mattifying highlighted finish to the face. The lightweight texture stays true all day long without caking or looking heavy, blending beautifully and instantly.  Whilst minimizing fine lines and imperfections for a shine-free complexion and natural, flawless finish.
My verdict:
A yellow powder is best to color correct any redness of the skin. In fact: my favorite way to set my foundation is with a yellow powder! Don´t worry that you will see any yellow! This absolutely becomes one with the skin and is undetectable. Great also to set your undereye concealer! Flawless finish! Thank you Rodial! I feel radiant! And can we please talk about the gorgeous packaging! This powder comes in a super elegant silver metal tin- it´s super heavy and sturdy and with the elegant logo emblem and a black leather design, I think it could not be any more gorgeous!

Rodial Smokey Eye Pen Black $21

The Rodial Smokey eye pencil feels super buttery and is highly pigmented. I love to use it to tight-line my upper lash-line! With super-rich pigment and gel-effect definition, this long-lasting soft formula can be easily blended to create a dramatic smokey eye.

Rodial surprised me with only outstanding products- not one fail. The skin care is available at Ulta, or Nordstrom, otherwise check out Rodial´s website for more information!
