YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer Review

Today I tell you my thoughts on the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer! What is it? An illuminating primer that blurs imperfections and boosts the radiance of foundation! Sounds good, but how does it perform?

The YSL Touche Elcat Blur Primer ($52) is full of tiny little specks of gold- so you might wonder, if you will look like a golden mess, when you apply this primer? Good news: you barely see the little flecks on your skin. They are so tiny, unless you look into a 15x magnifying mirror, you won´t see the gold glitter at all.

The YSL Touche Eclat Blur primer preps the skin for foundation application, creating an improved, refined appearance: pores seem to be minimized, skin texture feels smoother, and skin tone is more even. It’s enriched with four nourishing oils—corn oil, apricot kernel oil, passiflora oil, and rice bran oil—to leave skin feeling incredibly soft without a greasy residue. Packed with blur technology, this universal primer provides a subtle, golden shimmer for ultimate luminosity.

It is noncomedogenic (does not clog pores), and it’s suitable for all skin tones, including sensitive ones.

Ingredients of the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer:

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Fragrance, Zea Mays Oil/Corn Oil, Prunus Armeniaca, Kernel Oil/Apricot Kernel Oil, Passiflora Edulis Oil/Passiflora Edulis Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa Bran Oil/Rice Bran Oil, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Silica, Tin Oxide.

The YSL Touche Eclat Blur primer definitely reminds me on the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer that also smooths skin, blurs flaws and helps makeup last. So I thought, I compare the ingredients, and YES! Indeed, these products contain very much the same main ingredients. Both contain basically a mix of silicones (such as Cyclopentasiloxane and Crosspolymer) to smooth out the skin as well as different plant oils to nourish the skin.

Ingredients of the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer:

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Trisiloxane, Silica, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Extract, Propylene Glycol, Water, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Cola Acuminata (Kola) Seed Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract.

However, the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer contains these little gold specks (that just look adorable!) and the packaging is so super elegant: it just looks nicer having on your vanity, than the cheap plastic tube from Smashbox- but hey: if you are no sucker for packaging, then the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer ($36) will just do the same trick. ;-)
