pureSOL Konjac Facial Sponge Charcoal Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Today I have a little bit of a different review for you! I tried the Konjac Facial Sponge. Now what is Konjac? I have never heard this before. Well it  is a moisture rich plant fibre which is by nature alkaline and that is what balances the acidity of the skin's impurities and oils.  It is made of 100% pure vegetable fiber and processed without any coloring or additives, great for hypersensitive skin! The only thing they added to the Konjac is Activated Bamboo Charcoal powder.

Here are the claims of the product:

"IMPROVES SKIN TEXTURE: pureSOL Konjac Facial Sponge gently exfoliates while deep cleansing and removing any toxins and impurities, leaving you with a radiant complexion. It is extremely soft and gentle for everyday skin care. Great for all skin types.

BRIGHTER LOOKING SKIN: The natural woven fibers of the sponge gently massage the skin and stimulate blood flow. It detoxifies and encourages skin renewal while balancing the skins pH, leaving your skin extremely clean and refreshed!

PREVENTS SPOTS, BLACKHEADS AND BREAKOUTS: The added BAMBOO CHARCOAL contains activated carbon and essential minerals to deeply cleanse and absorb excess sebum, toxins and other harmful chemicals from your skin. You will see your pores getting smaller, tightening and brightening your skin."

My dry Konjac sponge

So, when you get the product, it feels and looks like a lava stone- you know these stones filled with air- they are hard- yet have no weight? And you wonder: how is this gonna work?

Well, you have to soak the whole "stone" with lots of water! It will then plump itself up to twice the size and become a soft sponge!

Now because I find it a bit wasteful to leave the water running- it will take about 1-3 minutes until it has the desired plumped up volume- I think it is best to have a little bowl full of water to soak it in. Or what I like to do best is actually take a bath and take my little Konjac with me! There I just relax and have my little sponge swimming with me until it has the right size.

Anyway: it makes a lot sense to use it in a bath tub because your skin will get soaked and be ready for a nice massage with the sponge. The sponge feels soft- yet there is something about the texture which gives you a nice non abrasive exfoliation. I am really having fun with my sweet new little sponge friend!

Once you are done, you just hang it on the little hook that comes with the sponge. It will then dry again to its weightless lava stone shape again! This is great hygienically as it will simply "dry out" any bacteria that might have gone in it.

It is recommended to replace the sponge every 2-3 months. After use, the sponge can be composted! To extend the life of your pureSOL Konjac Sponge it is also recommended keeping it in refrigerator. The sponge can also be sterilized every couple of weeks by boiling it in water or popping it in the microwave for a couple minutes!
